About Implants

First, let’s know something about Implants in general. Implants are the best way to replace missing teeth because they look and feel like real ones. Solomon Family Dentistry has offices in Summerville and Mount Pleasant, South Carolina that can help you work on your implants. We use advanced implants and the latest digital scanning systems to ensure that your implants and the crowns support the look and feel of your natural teeth.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are the safest and most durable way to replace missing teeth. The implants are metal posts that look like screws and are put into your jawbone by your dentist. They act like the roots of your new teeth.

Over time, the implant fuses with your jawbone. This makes it a strong base for a crown, which is part of your tooth that you can see. The new crown is securely attached to the implant, which keeps it in place.

Because the implant fuses with your jawbone, it can’t come loose and is just as safe as a natural tooth. Solomon Family Dentistry can replace a single missing tooth, a few missing teeth, or even a row of dentures with dental implants.

These implants are usually made of titanium or titanium alloys, which are light, strong, and compatible with living tissue (meaning your body is less likely to react to them adversely).

How Dental Implants Works?

The implants will first be put into your jaw. It would help to have enough healthy jawbones to hold the post in place for this to work. If you don’t have the healthy bone required for implantation and are a good candidate, you’ll need bone graft surgery or sinus lifts to build up your jaw.

The implant needs time to heal after it is put in your jaw. Before the crown can be put on, the bone must grow around the post and fuse. This can take a few months. At Solomon Family Dentistry, we use Zimmer® Trabecular MetalTM implants, which speed up the healing process and help the bones fuse. We also have new dental implants called All-on-4® and All-on-6®.

Besides, our dentist makes the crowns that go over the implants using a scanning system called Encode® Impression System to make an impression of the space and the teeth around it. The new crown should look like your other teeth, so you can’t tell which is real or fake.

With CEREC® same-day crown technology, Solomon Family Dentistry can make custom crowns in just a few minutes.

The Benefits of Dental Implants

You may have heard tons of good things about dental implants. But to clarify everything, here’s what you can expect from most of its benefits.

Makes You Feel Better

Dental implants make you look and feel better because they look and feel like natural teeth. They are made to match the color and shape of your natural teeth. This gives you a new smile that looks natural and fits together nicely. With dental implants, you can show off your smile with confidence and ease.

Better Oral Health

Because dental implants are fixed to your jawbone, they help your jawbone grow and stop it from shrinking. Dental implants are a way to replace missing teeth that don’t involve taking away healthy tooth structure. This means the teeth beside it are not hurt, which is better for oral health and hygiene.

Better Eating & Speech

Losing teeth can make it hard to say certain words and eat certain foods. Dental implants give you a stable base for chewing and talking, so you can eat your favorite foods and speak with confidence.

Strong & Long-Lasting

Dental implants can last a lifetime if cared for and in good shape. They are made of high-quality materials, like titanium, that are biocompatible and resistant to decay and gum disease. Dental implants are a cost-effective way to replace missing teeth because they don’t need to be adjusted or replaced as often as other options.

Dental implants are a popular and effective way to fix your pretty smile and improve oral health. It is a good investment in your oral health and overall well-being because they look natural, improves your oral health, and lasts long.

If you are considering getting dental implants, talk to your dentist to determine if they are right. Dental implants can give you a confident and comfortable smile for many years with the proper care and upkeep.

Caring For Your New Teeth

Taking care of implants is the same as caring for your natural teeth. Follow your regular oral care routine of brushing your teeth twice daily and flossing once. Use toothpaste that isn’t too abrasive and floss that isn’t waxed, floss made for dental implants, or a water flosser. It would help if you also got your teeth checked regularly.
