Fillings

Fillings

If you have a cavity or are experiencing increased sensitivity because of tooth decay, the team at Solomon Family Dentistry offers fillings at their office locations in Summerville and Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Their skilled dentists can restore compromised teeth with fillings to improve your bite and give you a boost of confidence. Call Solomon Family Dentistry to learn more or book an appointment online today.

Fillings at Solomon Family Dentistry are made of unique tooth-colored materials. Your dentist uses fillings to restore damaged or decaying teeth to prevent complications. If your provider detects a cavity in its early stage before it becomes a larger hole, a filling might be all that’s needed to treat the cavity and restore your tooth.

A cavity is the main reason you may need a filling. Signs and symptoms of a cavity include:

  • Tooth pain
  • Pain when you bite down
  • Tooth sensitivity
  • Mild or sharp pain with eating
  • Tooth staining
  • Holes or pits in your teeth

Your dentist can detect cavities, or dental decay, during routine dental exams, but if you experience symptoms of a cavity, see your dentist right away for an evaluation.

Before getting a filling, your dentist examines your teeth and asks questions about your symptoms. They also take dental X-rays to confirm you have a cavity. If you have a cavity requiring treatment, a filling might be right for you.

Your dentist first removes the decayed portion of your tooth and fills it with tooth-colored materials to protect it and prevent future decay. Getting a filling is fast and painless.

If you require a large filling, your provider may place a porcelain crown over the top of your tooth like a cap and secure it firmly in place using dental cement. If you need a crown, Solomon Family Dentistry offers state-of-the-art CEREC® same-day crowns designed with Encode® Impression System technology.

To help prevent future tooth decay, take care of your teeth using good oral hygiene habits. Brush them two times a day using a fluoride toothpaste and floss every day. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables and avoid sugary foods and drinks whenever you can.

See the Solomon Family Dentistry team every six months for professional teeth cleanings and dental exams to detect tooth decay early before serious complications develop.

If you suspect that you need a filling, schedule an appointment with Solomon Family Dentistry by calling the nearest office or booking online today.

Dr Ari Socher

Fred Solomon, DMD

Frederick Solomon, DMD, is an experienced general dentist and founder of Solomon Family Dentistry, with five locations in Summerville and one in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. He is proud to be able to offer comprehensive oral health care to so many communities in South Carolina.

Dr. Solomon started out with a small dentist office in Summerville, just off of Beauregard, which had two treatment operatories and one operatory for dental hygiene. Over the years, Dr. Solomon has expanded the practice, building a new office and moving down the highway off of Royal Road. His intention of starting a small practice to help the community has now progressed into a larger dentist office that reaches out to patients in the Summerville, Moncks Corner, Goose Creek, and surrounding areas.

Dr. Solomon graduated from St. Andrews High School and continued on to complete his undergrad studies at the University of Maryland. From there, he came back to Charleston to complete his education for dental school at MUSC and has resided here ever since.

When not in the dentist’s office, Dr. Solomon enjoys spending time with his wife and family and picking up a good book for the occasional read.
